Autumn's POV

When they finally dragged Phoenix back into the room, I tried to explain everything to her.

"I was depressed, so I ran away. I felt like I couldn't live anymore. You didn't want to see me like that did you?" I tried to explain.

"That's better than not seeing you at all." She snapped back with hate in her eyes.

"I brought you a change of clothes." I told her and held out a pair of dark wash skinny jeans, a black t-shirt, and converse.

"Maybe I wanna stay in my juvie suit." She back sassed, glaring me down.

"Phoenix!" I yelled, losing my temper, "I'm sorry that I couldn't be there for you, but I am now! Please forgive me!" I begged.

"Fine." She said after a long pause, "I have to pack up my stuff, but I can't really do that with handcuffs on." The warden took out a key and unlocked her handcuffs. Phoenix took the clothes and went back to her room to pack.

After fifteen minutes, Phoenix came back down the hallway, clean and holding a duffel bag. I signed her out and we stepped out of the building and onto the curb of New York City. My car was parked right in front.

"Get in the car." I said sternly to my little sister. She did as she was told and climbed into the passenger seat.

"So what is this about?" She questioned once we were both in the vehicle. I started driving trying not to look at her.

"Well?" She asked, "There has to be a reason! You wouldn't pull me out of juvie after three years just to say hi!" She screamed.

"Fine!" I screamed, "There is some stuff that Dad never told you."

"Oh, but he told you? So now you're the favourite child?" She spat in my face.

"Phoenix," I said trying to reason with her, "Dad loved us equally. I was just older. You were too young to understand things."

She turned her head away to look out the window, but I could tell she was rolling her eyes. After a few moments of silence, she faced me again.

"What about Dad?" She asked, glaring at me, "He's dead. There's nothing more to it."

"Not exactly…" I said with a little bit of guilt in my voice, "Right before dad went off to prison, he had a girlfriend. But she was married. I think she might have framed Dad."
